Finding a Way back to Youself
Depression can gradually change the way you experience yourself and the world around you. Things that once brought enjoyment may lose their meaning, motivation can become harder to find, and even the simplest parts of everyday life can begin to feel like an effort.
You may have tried to push through, keep busy or tell yourself that things should feel different by now. Yet knowing you want to feel better does not always make it easier to get there.
Depression Therapy provides a safe, compassionate space to slow things down and understand what you are experiencing. Together, we can explore the thoughts, emotions, experiences and patterns that may be affecting you, while also recognising what is happening within your body and nervous system.
Through Restoring Balance, my integrative approach brings these different aspects of your experience together, supporting you to gradually reconnect with yourself, rebuild inner strength and move towards a greater sense of balance and wellbeing.

You may recognise yourself here...
Depression does not always look the same for everyone.
You may find yourself:
- Feeling persistently low, flat or emotionally overwhelmed
- Losing interest in things you once enjoyed
- Feeling tired or lacking motivation, even when you want to make changes
- Struggling with negative or self-critical thoughts
- Feeling disconnected from yourself or the people around you
- Finding everyday decisions or responsibilities difficult
- Experiencing changes in sleep, appetite or energy
- Feeling stuck in patterns that are difficult to understand or change
- Carrying emotional pain from past experiences
- Wanting to feel more like yourself again
You may also be functioning on the outside while feeling very different internally.
If you recognise yourself here, you do not have to have everything worked out before seeking support.
Understanding the different forms depression can take
Depression can take different forms and can affect people in different ways.
I can support people experiencing a range of depressive difficulties, including:
Clinical Depression
A period of persistent low mood, loss of interest or enjoyment, reduced energy and other emotional or physical changes that begin to affect everyday life.
Persistent Depression
A longer-lasting form of depression where low mood and other symptoms can become part of everyday life and may gradually begin to feel normal.
Reactive Depression
Depression that develops in response to difficult or significant life circumstances, such as relationship difficulties, loss, work pressures, financial worries or major life changes.
Atypical Depression
Depression that may include temporary improvements in mood in response to positive events, alongside experiences such as sensitivity to rejection or changes in appetite.
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Changes in mood, energy and motivation that can occur at particular times of the year, often during the darker winter months.
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation
Chronic, intense irritability and frequent anger outbursts in children.
Depression linked to Medical Health
Living with a long-term or significant health condition can affect emotional wellbeing and may contribute to feelings of low mood, loss of confidence or emotional exhaustion.
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder
Severe premenstrual symptoms, including significant mood changes, irritability, anxiety or depression that can interfere with daily life.
Prenatal and Postnatal Depression
Emotional difficulties can develop during pregnancy or following the birth of a baby. Support can provide a safe space to explore what you are experiencing without judgement.
If you are unsure whether the symptoms you are experiencing would be described as depression, you are still welcome to get in touch. We can talk through what has been happening and consider what support may be appropriate for you.

Restoring Balance
A more integrated approach to Depression Therapy
Restoring Balance is a gentle, integrative approach to psychotherapy that works with the mind, body, nervous system and energy system as a whole.
Depression can affect much more than your thoughts and emotions. You may understand some of the reasons behind how you feel, yet still experience a heaviness in your body, emotional tiredness, difficulty connecting with others or a sense of feeling stuck.
Within Restoring Balance, we gently explore the different layers of your experience — including your thoughts and beliefs, emotions, physical sensations and the ways you have learned to respond when life feels difficult.
As your mind and nervous system begin to feel more settled, it can become easier to reconnect with yourself and with the things that matter to you. Over time, this can create space for greater self-belief, resilience and a deeper sense of inner balance.
The intention is to support meaningful, lasting change that can be carried into everyday life, rather than simply providing temporary relief.
Find Out More About My Approach...
Honouring your full self
Sometimes depression can leave you feeling disconnected from who you are.
You may have lost confidence in yourself, become caught in self-critical thinking or feel as though your motivation and sense of purpose have disappeared.
This is where looking at the whole person can be important.
Alongside psychotherapy and elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I draw upon different approaches to work with emotional patterns, the nervous system and body and energy-aware practices.
The aim is not to force change or make you become someone different.
It is to create the space and support for you to reconnect with yourself, understand what may be keeping you stuck, and gradually develop new ways of responding.
What can begin to feel different
Everyone's experience of depression is different, and change happens at an individual pace.
Over time, you may begin to experience:
- A greater sense of calm and emotional balance
- More awareness of your thoughts, feelings and patterns
- Greater motivation and engagement with everyday life
- More confidence in yourself and your ability to cope
- Less emotional overwhelm
- A stronger connection with your own needs and values
- Greater resilience when life becomes difficult
- More self-compassion and less self-criticism
- A renewed sense of direction and possibility
- A deeper sense of being present and connected to yourself
The aim is not simply to feel better for a short time, but to develop a greater understanding of yourself and practical ways of supporting your wellbeing going forward.

Your Journey with Restoring Balance
Restoring Balance can be offered as a focused 6-week journey or a more in-depth 12-week process, depending on the support and space you feel you need.
The work follows three interconnected phases:
Settle
Creating greater calm, grounding and emotional safety, giving your mind and nervous system space to slow down and regulate.
Explore
Gently understanding the thoughts, emotions, experiences and patterns that may be contributing to low mood, emotional exhaustion or feeling stuck.
Restore
Developing new ways of responding, strengthening resilience and self-belief, and integrating the changes into everyday life.
The process is carefully paced around you. Alongside our sessions, you may be given simple strategies or practices to support your progress between appointments.
How I work
There is no single formula for depression.
I draw upon different therapeutic approaches according to your individual needs, rather than expecting you to fit into one particular method.
These may include:
- Psychotherapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness and calming meditation
- Breathwork
- Empowerment coaching
- Qigong and energy-aware practices
- Deep relaxation
- Hypnotherapy where appropriate
The focus is always on finding an approach that feels supportive, manageable and relevant to you.
A Supportive Space to begin
You do not need to know exactly what you need before getting in touch.
Your first step is a free introductory consultation, giving you an opportunity to talk about what you have been experiencing, ask questions and explore whether my approach feels right for you.
From there, we can consider what kind of support may be most appropriate and whether a 6-week or 12-week journey would provide the right level of space and support.
"Simplicity is the Key. Understanding is the Power"
You don't have to work through it alone
Depression can make reaching out feel difficult. Sometimes even making the decision to ask for help can feel like a significant step.
You don't need to arrive with everything understood or have a clear plan for what comes next.
We can start simply — by talking about where you are now and what you would like to feel different.
Take a gentle first step towards greater balance.
